Friday
3:30am Puppy wakes up barking like crazy. He goes #1 the minute I take him outside and then 30 minutes later starts barking at the patio like crazy. He ends up going poop outside and solid.
5:00am I shouldn’t have, but I let the puppy stay in the living room for the rest of the “night” and I finally get some sleep from 5-7am.
7:00am Woke up to the puppy going crazy again and this time when he goes outside for #2, the stool is a lot softer. I’m monitoring his poops because he was positive for giardia on the protein portion of his fecal test, though they didn’t see any cysts in the stool, so the vet choose to monitor. L (the dog) has been really good lately too. I don’t know why he went all crazy last night. We did go to his first puppy training class at Petsmart. It wasn’t really useful, they just made me give him a bunch of treat — we paid for it so I’ll be back for the next 5 sessions.
8:00am Me and husband make it too orange theory. It’s a killer class today, they called it the “obstacle course.” OTF is one of the few great solid invests I have made in my fitness health. Though, it did replace yoga in my book — both financially and time-wise it made more sense to choose OTF. It’s a personal choice. Like the rest I life I guess..
9:30am Husband gets ready for work while I watch the crying puppy. He is SO LOUD. It’s insane. I feel so guilty because I’m “that neighbor” who is disturbing the peace. But after reading a few puppy books it seems like this is one of those things where it has to get worse before it gets better. It’s so bad now though, it sounds like screams. I don’t get how such a little guy (12lbs) can make so much noise. All I think about every 5 minutes is how happy we are to only have to take care of this ONE baby. We’re probably going to wait another year before we try having a baby together.
10:30am it’s been a solid hour of screams. The puppy is being trained right now to get used to the crate. I’ve tried multiple techniques and I’m doing my best to use only positive reinforcement and to praise him when he’s quiet.
10:45am I succumb and call/leave voicemail to the trainer my vet recommended. It’s a such hefty bill if we decide to go for his services, but at this point my husband and I (both in the health care field) just can’t work with being sleep deprived and stressed. The trainers FAQs say he usually calls back weekdays 24-48 hrs after receiving a voicemail and that he limits his clients per week.
11:15am L is being crate trained, so I got him into the crate because I need to head out to the library. I put a blanket over his crate like usual and add on a beanbag to the top of the crate so to help with the noise (not sure if this did anything, but it’s nice to feel like I’m trying…). I also turn the AC a few degrees lower since it’s been quite hot/humid here. Anything outside of 65-75 F in SD seems to be abnormally cold or hot.
12:30pm spent some quality time in the library. I got this new book called The Humans that I’m excited to read. Made lunch: chicken bouillon, pho noodles, fish/shrimp balls, and chicken tenders from last night that I had pan fried. My go-to foods should be salad, but they somehow always manage to be some variation of noods. $0
12:45pm L is quiet and I’m going to treat myself to watching an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. I sit next to the crate with the blanket over it still and put my hand there now and then. This seems to work and he’s quiet now. Finally…
1:45pm One of the practices I’m working at requested that I change my address on my license, so I fill out an application for the board to make that happen and I requested a copy. I hope I can get reimbursed for this. $50
3:30pm After a 30 minute phone consult, i decided to put a deposit down for a puppy trainer. $100

1015pm: Amazon purchases. Water/snack bottle with collapsible lids for L and a cover for the amazon fire tv remote. I was debating on getting this cover or not, but the cover is $7 whereas a new remote is at least $27… so it’s worth it I suppose. $18.38
I technically also bought a Chinese version of Marie Kondo’s book, but I didn’t get billed for it. Curious.
Also I wanted to purchase some baby things for Lori, however the address wasn’t working. I’ll send Lori a text today.
WEDNESDAY
706am: I have a bunch of things in my Nordstrom rack cart. Haven’t been able to pull the trigger on whether to purchase or not. Also, deciding whether to purchase Mahabis since there’s a season sale right now.
